Finally able to get out on the water again after nearly a month without windsurfing so I was dying to get out. Was at work all morning and decided to head of at 2 as everyone else had gone and I had lost interest. I timed it right as the wind had picked up a fair bit so I quickly drove down to Frankton to check out the conditions and one guy was already there rigging up his 5.4.
I came back with all my kit and rigged after also forgetting to bring the boom.
My last experience of Frankton was very gusty conditions and this was just the same. It was great sailing amongst the most spectacular scenery but the gusty conditioons were horrible. I wasnt able to waterstart in some of the lulls and some of the gusts were really gnarly where I was holding on for dear life trying to sheet out as much as poss to depower.
There were about 5 of us out all scremaing along back and forth on the flat wtaer in the gusts.
My house was 2k up the lake so I was basically sailing back and forth towards my house. Luckily, my flatmate Catrina was in so was filming me from the balcony which was awesome as its the first video footage ive seen of myself in action. Must get a copy of it one day. Only prob is she didn't know which one was me so was filming 2 other guys as well.
In all was great to get out again; the conditions werent ideal but the outstanding scenery and surroundings made up for it. Will have to get some pics one day and post them on the site as there not many windsurfing venues like this in the world where theres breathtaking mountains in the background with clear blue skies.
